Intra-articular Injections

Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Deniz Evcik and our team of experts, we combine scientific and modern approaches in intra-articular injection treatments. We offer personalized methods to enhance your mobility and support your quality of life.

What are intra-articular injections?

Intra-articular injections are therapeutic injections administered directly into a joint. They are commonly used for the following purposes:
• Pain management (especially in degenerative diseases like osteoarthritis)
• Inflammation reduction (in rheumatic diseases)
• Promoting tissue regeneration (with biological therapies)

Main Types of  intra-articular injections:

Corticosteroid injections: Rapidly reduce inflammation and pain, but may have adverse effects on cartilage and tendons in the long term.

Hyaluronic acid injections: Increase the viscosity of joint fluid, improving mobility and reducing pain.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma): Plasma enriched with platelets from the patient’s own blood, containing healing growth factors.

Soft tissue injections refer to injections administered into extra-articular soft tissue structures such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, or bursae. They are usually used to reduce pain and inflammation or to accelerate the healing process. Local anesthetics, corticosteroids, and PRP may be used in these treatments.

The effectiveness of these treatments can vary from person to person and may not be suitable in every case. The choice of injection depends on factors such as the patient's age, the stage of the disease, coexisting conditions, and treatment expectations.

PRP Injection

• How is it done? A sample of the patient’s blood is drawn, centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich portion, and injected into the affected joint.
• What does it do? Growth factors in the platelets stimulate tissue repair and healing.
• When is it used? Commonly used in osteoarthritis of the knee, shoulder, and hip, as well as in ligament, tendon, and muscle injuries.

In which conditions are injections preferred?

  • Degenerative Joint Diseases (Osteoarthritis) • Knee, hip, shoulder, fingers

  • Rheumatic Diseases (Inflammatory Arthritis) • Rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout arthritis

  • Tendon and Ligament Disorders • Conditions: Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis), Achilles tendinitis, rotator cuff tendinitis, trigger finger

  • Bursitis (Inflammation of Fluid Sacs Around the Joint) • Subacromial bursitis (shoulder), trochanteric bursitis (hip), prepatellar bursitis (knee)

  • Nerve Entrapments and Mechanical Pain • Conditions: Carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve neuropathy, piriformis syndrome

  • Fascia and Muscle Pain • Conditions: Myofascial pain syndrome, plantar fasciitis, heel spur

  • Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)

Our Treatment Process

  • xamination and Evaluation:
We begin with a detailed assessment of joint-related complaints to determine the suitability for injection therapy and establish clear treatment goals.

  • Personalized Planning:
Based on the patient’s needs, joint structure, and current condition, the most appropriate type of injection (such as hyaluronic acid, PRP, or corticosteroids) is selected, and a customized treatment plan is created.

  • Follow-Up and Monitoring:
The effectiveness of the injection is evaluated through regular follow-ups, and if necessary, additional applications are planned to support the recovery process.
